Just get it right. you said


"mitigate the damage", suggesting that he felt there has been damage done.

the quote in the article is “It’s clear they’re bringing in more revenue than we are and we have to be able to help mitigate that at some point and time, and the network is a way to do that.”

So he said "mitigate" in terms of the difference in payouts and stressed the importance of getting that done going forward. He in no way said or implied that the conference has been damaged nor did he express any sense of regret.
